Adding a new IP address.. causes server downtime?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I realise I must add a new IP address to my windows 2000 server for

hosting another SSL site on a unique domain name on the same ssl port

(443) of the same server.

I already have several sites running on this server. Will I cause any

downtime by adding a new IP address? Can I just go ahead and add the

new IP address or could this cause the server to disconnect from the

network?

Many thanks,

Kenny

Adding a secondary IP to your network card will not cause any downtime.

Just go to the advanced tab of your network card and add the ip and it will

be available in IIS.
