Maryport Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Hi Tootech, I downloaded Avira anti virus, but prior to installation, I ran AVG and about 5 mins into the scan....bsod. I tried this four times and the same thing happened each time. I then uninstalled AVG and installed Avira and did a full scan. It found the following : 1. tr/trash.gen................A0025234.exe 2. tr/drop.softomat.an.....A0025235.exe 3. tr/trash.gen................A0025236.exe After the scan I clicked repair and then deleted them from the quaranteen folder. Fingers crossed ! Quote
starams5 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi Maryport I would consider reformatting the HDD and installing a fresh copy of Windows. I'm not sure the problem is OS related but at least you could rule it out. Quote

Maryport Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Thanks everyone. Sorry for the delay in replying to you all, I chose to format my drive and install Vista (64 bit). I have also replaced the Dvd drive. However I am still getting a BSOD. Well, two actually: 1. 'A Clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval' 2. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL Its got me stumped ! Quote

RandyL Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 ok I'm just guessing here but the usual causes are ram or a driver conflict. I'm thinking a driver conflict. Especially since you have the 64 bit XP, just reinstalled and have not yet updated beyond SP1. Try getting all the Windows updates and see what happens. If you have recently installed any hardware remove that and the drivers. Is this a AMD chip? Maybe you need an update there. That's all I have but wait for others to comment.
