Guest MrHusy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Re: Permissions to restrict file copying Hi Sandy RMS is application based, if it is a document IRM will be suitable. Keep in mind that If I can open and read your file, and if my purpose is copying the file, I can copy and paste the index of the file (Or read and write) to a new file. So restricting the copy operation of file itself is not a solution, what you want to achieve that is asked many time previously is not possible logically Regards -- MrHusy http://www.experts-exchange.com/M_3788926.html "Sandy M" wrote: > Does Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services provide the ability > to prevent copying? > > "Pegasus (MVP)" wrote: > > > > > "Sandy M" <SandyM@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:AE2883DB-92E7-4377-A97C-CE751559A861@microsoft.com... > > > Hi, > > >> We are using a Windows 2003 Server as a file server. > > >> > > >> One of the owners of our company wants to set up a folder that will > > >> allow Reps to view files, but not to copy them. > > >> > > >> I can't see a way in the Folder permissions to do this.
