Although mainly use Firefox, today I upgraded my Internet Explorer (to work better with Ebay) to Version 8. Everything was A-OK until then. Now I can still use the internet fine but cannot send or receive emails.

Outlook Express is trying to connect through WAN Miniport and then it comes back with Error:815. This says that the remote server is not responding and to contact ISP to get a value for the "Service field".

I have spoken to my ISP provider and apart from being on the phone for 2 hours they were absolutely no help at all. They say that my Outlook is corrupted and I need to get a PC company out to have a look at it!

All all worked fine before this upgrade. Please help - I know very very little so need basic guidelines!!

Praying!

I have managed to remove IE8 and are not back running on 7 however it does not appear to have cured the problem. When I open IE it is offline and stills trys to connect using the WAN Miniport with the same error code 815. Same also with Outlook Express.

Any further advice?

Hi;

Go to Network Connections in the Control Panel.

Do you have your connection and WAN Miniport connection listed?

If you have both listed delete the WAN Miniport. Try connecting with your ISP's connection now.

CAUTION: Make sure you do not delete a connection you use. If you do you will have to set it up again.

Do you use a USB modem or a router to connect to the Internet?

If you use a router, open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, then down to Internet Options.

Go over to the Connections tab and make sure Never Dial a Connection is ticked.

Close all the boxes, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer again, can you now connect?

If you do use a USB modem, you may need to reinstall the modem dial up software.
