Guest susan Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hi all, I am a new joiner and I am a young IT. Nice to join this group. I really need help from you. I have a problem with Permission Share Drive from Windows Server 2003. I have a user group call Supports with member:a,b,c,d,e,f,g, for example (a=manager, b to g=users) I want to set manager with permission modify and users with permission Read, Write BUT cannot delete and move files or folder. So, below is the step I have done: - Set permission to Supports with modify permission - Create a new group call Supports Creator (member:b to g) and set permission Deny Delete Supfolder and Files and Delete only. The result is: - manager can do everything (read, write, delete and move file and folder), CORRECT -users can only (copy, can not delete, can not move file and folder and also cannot save chang the files). NOT CORRECT, they should can edit and save chang files. I wonder why user can not save chang the files. Those users need to chang and edit those files. I have no idea about it. Can you please help me about this? Please help me, it is urgent for me. Thanks so much in advance. Susan

With the same problem, but now I created two user groupes as Full Access Groupe and Create Only Groupe then I set permission as below: 1. Full Access Groupe = Managers with permission Modify (This groupe can add, delete. move and modify files and folders in a Drive Share). Done (it is working properly) 2. Create Only Groupe = members (normal users) with permission Write (This groupe can only create and modify files and folders but they can not delete or move files in that Drive Share). Not Done (It is also can not modify files). What I set is: 1. I try to do as the advice above and when I view Effective Permission I see only (List Folder/Read Data, Read Attributes and Read Extended Attributes), the result is normal users can not save change the files. 2. I try to set only Write Permission and when I view Effective Permission I see (List Folder/Read Data, Read Attributes, Read Extended Attributes, Create Files/Write Data, Create Folders/Append Data, Write Attributes and Write Extended Attributes), the result is normal users still can not save change the files. This is a problem because I would like normal user can also save change the files which already exist in the Folder of Share Drive. And now, I have no idea about it or is it right that normal users can not save change the files? Anyone please help me to solve this problem? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance, Susan
