Path not set correctly - not sure why

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm running Windows 2003 R2 X64 SP2. If I go to my computer - properties

and advanced, environment variables, I copy and past the path -

C:\Program Files\Support

Tools\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program

Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\RAC5;C:\Program Files

(x86)\Dell\SysMgt\oma\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0;C:\Program

Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange

Server\Scripts;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL

Server\80\Tools\Binn\;C:\WINDOWS\ADMT;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX

and that looks right

When I go to a command prompt and type path, I get

C:\Program Files\Support

Tools\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program

Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\RAC5;C:\Program Files

(x86)\Dell\SysMgt\oma\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0;C:\Program

Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange

Server\Scripts;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL

Server\80\Tools\Binn\;C:\WINDOWS\ADMT;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX

Path= ;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX

Any thoughts on why?

Thanks

Re: Path not set correctly - not sure why

OK - I stand corrected - if I type path I only get that small part, if I

type set - it gives me the full path settings - not sure why but I'm getting

the "setup library wbemupgd.dll could not be loaded" message when

attempting to modify my windows components in add remove programs

Re: Path not set correctly - not sure why

Thanks - yeah - that is what lead me to look at my path in the first

place - it is set correctly in the environment variables.

Re: Path not set correctly - not sure why

THanks again - I did do the last thing that you mentioned and created the

expandable path and that resolved the issue!

Re: Path not set correctly - not sure why

You're welcome. That's strange that the Microsoft fix was to change the

variables to actual path strings rather than fix the real problem of

incorrect registry data type.
