Hello,

I have a new server(server 2003) intended to replace my old one(server 2000)

I need an outline on how to get the new one to"assume" the role of domain

controller

thanks

search the microsoft site there are specific howto, basically you ave to do:

1) preparing the active directory for windows 2003 with adprep

2) joining the w2k3 to the domain

3) raise the level of membership of that server with dcpromo

4) install the DNS role on the w2k3

5) migrate FSMO roles to the new machine

6) lower the level of membership of the 2k server

7) disjoin the 2k server from the domain

before theese tasks it's a good idea to check the AD with dcdiag

You better post under:
