Hi i apologise if this is in the wrong section, but im new, and i assume it is only a minor problem.

I downloaded the latest Nvidia GeForce 200 Series Graphics drivers for my Geforce Gtx 295 on windows vista 32 bit and something appears to have gone wrong. I downloaded it and installed it okay, but then it asked if i wished to enable SLI (recommended) so i switched it to enable.

Then for some reason my monitor went black, then came back on and everything on the screen was oversized, then it went black again a few moments later, and came back on with everything really small. I then got the dreaded blue screen and my PC restarted.

When it got to my desktop, the monitors light which is blue when it is on, turned to orange and "analog power saving mode" came on the screen, and just wouldnt come back on, i tried switching the monitor off and then back on but nothing worked and the blue screen came back on. So i had to hold the power button in for 6 seconds, and restart the PC in safe mode, which is how i am posting this now.

Ive tried several times to restart my PC normally but the same thing keeps happening, and i can't access my Nvidia control panel in safe mode to see if switching SLI off would do the trick, and it doesnt give me chance to access it before the monitor switches off in regular mode.

Im at a loss as to what to do now, if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi, considering you can get into safe mode, have you tried "Last known good configuration"? hopefully this, or perhaps a system restore, will get you back to before you installed the updated drivers. If so we can maybe take it from there.

Thanks for the speedy reply Nev.

How do i roll back to the last known good configuration ? Ive never had to do it with Vista. I pushed F11 when it first booted up and that takes me to a complete system reboot, which i was hoping to avoid. If i can just roll it back that would be great.

Hi, rather than spend ages writing myself, Microsoft have done it for me :D

have a look at this link, scroll down to "Last known good configuration" and follow it from there, it is all very helpful and easy to understand (I hope  )
