tismehi Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) i bought the elonex one T+ netbook last year and have hardly used it. i found navigating around this linux machine tedious and extremly awkward. there is 2gb space available on it, bluetooth and also a sd card slot. i can pick up my router wirelessly ok but find most other tasks near impossible. i have emailled elonex customer services several times without one reply - should be renamed customer non services. so, i am either to sell it on or try to put xp on it and give it another go. could i put xp on an sd card and have it run from there or is there a better alternative perhaps. maynardvdm Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hi You wont have much space available after you installed XP as the system requirements is 1.5Gb. I am not sure if you can boot from an SD card. Will look around for more solutions. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. tismehi Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 thanks maynard, as you say there is not much room left if i were to install xp perhaps i could do so and then use an sd card, (say a 4gb for example), for installing progs and the like??? don;t know if this is feasible, possible or even what the maximum capacity of sd card these machines take - if there is a max that is. danzil Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 you could use nlite (nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation) slipstream your xp with all the drivers and service packs>updates etc then install that. use your sd to save pictures>documents etc too.... xp WILL run off an sd card>USB pen so you could that that if needs be. regards danzil Quote Windows 10 Pro x64Aqua Jeantech Gaming case550watt psu.MSI Gaming Board32GB DDR3 Corsair gaming RamGenuine Intel i7 3.2Ghz4 x 24x dvdrw 150GB SSD750GB Hybrid Drive256 RAID PCI/E SSD for OSand loads of other bits i really dont need :D
tismehi Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 thanks denzil, i will have a look at the site for that but i'm afraid i do not know what slipstream is, (other than driving, riding, etc). Quote
danzil Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 slipstreaming basically means . you get your xp cd copy the contents to a folder on your pc.....download all your latest windows updates, download all your drivers for your laptop>pc. then load up nlite (the programme i linked) then it will basically ask you where teh xp cd folder is, where your service packs are (will download via windows updatets), where all your critical updates are. then it will go through a process of adding the settings YOU want. you can set it up to be exactly how you need, so once it has installed you will not need to do much at all. it will even out whatever icons you want on your deskstop for you.. to downlaod all the updates to your pc use a small programme called. windows update downloader, get it from Windows Updates Downloader (WUD). then download the update list (ul) fromt here site that matches your xp cd,,, xp, xp with service pack2 etc.......you will then get an option to download what you need, you can tick and untick what updates you need and do not, for instance you can now integrate IE7 and media player 11, if you do not want them untick them......very very simple. regards danzil ps if you need any help making your slipstreamed cd let me know.
