Guest stosti Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I have three companies all connected by IPSec VPN. We are all on the same domain. Each building has a domain controller. Building A is the main headquarters. The print queues are on the fileserver (member server) there. Building B and C have a single server that is acting as there domain controller and file/print server. Everything is working fine except when you go to add a new printer I only see the printers in the main headquarters. If I reboot the domain controllers in building B or C the printer show up for a period of time and then drop off. I have restarted the print spooler in each location but this does not help. I have done this before with multiple companies. The only difference is that the print queues were not on a domain controller. Any idea what I need to do to make the printers be seen in each company? Is there a way for the users in a single building to only be able to see there local printers? If i browse the network and find the print servers in the list I see all the printers. I have been doing this to setup XP machines with printers. I am using DNS and WINS company wide. Thank You, Scott

I personally just deploy the printers & don't worry about browsing for them - there are many ways. One of the easiest (& most old fashioned, maybe) is con2prt.exe from the resource kit, in a login script.
Guest stosti Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Re: Print Server Advertizement Problems By listed in AD do you mean the check box that says list in directory? That is checked off. It's ok if I can't get them to show up correctly. I'm more curious why they show up after a reboot and slowly drop off. Thanks "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: > stosti <stosti@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > I have three companies all connected by IPSec VPN. We are all on the > > same domain.
