I cannot connect to a computer in my network using remote desktop

connection. Its property allows access. Is there anything I am

forgetting?

Check the Windows firewall or third party firewall settings to make sure

there's an exception set.

Note that this probably isn't the best group for your question, as it isn't

specific to Windows Server issues.

I am running 2k3. The error message is remote connection might not be

enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections.

Also network problems might be preventing the connection

Things to check:

1. Firewall

2. RDp setting

For firewall, see if you can telnet into the port 3389 (default RDP port).

If you can't telnet into port 3389, check the firewall settings.

for RDP setting, ensure that it is enabled.

Hello John,

Can you ping it with name and ip address? Is the firewall enabled on the

remote machine? Is 2003 the remote machine or are both computers 2003?

Best regards

I can ping both name and address. the remote computer does not have a

firewall, as these are all networked and behind the firewall. The

remote computer is running XP professional.

Did you Control Panel|System|Remote|Enable Remote Desktop on remote machine?

Are you using credentials that have local administrative rights on remote

machine?
