Guest Abhi Techie Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hi All, I have a huge problem where i work. Scenario: I have around 1400 users who are using the same File server for their profiles and home folders. Server has 4 GB of RAM. As i do not have much of space in the C drive of the server, the initial and maximum page file is size are set to 4 GB. Issue: Right now users are all facing problems accessing the pst files.Users have their pst files saved in their home folder so that they can access them using outlook 2003 in a roaming model. Event ID : 2020 Description: The server was unable to allocate from the system paged pool because the pool was empty. We have tried to fine tune the page file size. But we are not at all getting any solutions for this. Someone please help quickly. Abhi

Hi, I forgot to mention this is also a print server which has around 50 shared printers connected to this. Guest Edwin vMierlo [MVP] Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Re: File Server Issues As you did not mention what OS you are running, I am assuming you are running Windows 2003 Please check out the following KB's http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886670 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940307 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822219 this article explains how to configure Paged Pool: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312362 And I must mention that PST files on fileserver is a bad idea, due to how Outlook is managaging/accessing these files. It is not supported officially, I strongly recommend not putting PST's on a file server. Here is the KB detailing Microsofts point of view of PST's on a Fileshare http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297019 To configure outlook for roaming users, please see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011402691033.aspx HTH, Edwin. Guest Anthony Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Re: File Server Issues Abhi, There are several ways to go about this: - Identify any changes you have made recently: drivers, utilities etc. Reverse them or update them. - Use Poolmon and Task Manager to identify the fault. Poolmon is here: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=177415. In Task Manager you can select to show Handles and Paged Non Paged Pools. - Just possibly it is this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312362 but this does not explain why it started happening. Unless you are lucky and guess what change caused the problem, it can take a while to track down, Anthony, http://www.airdesk.com "Abhi Techie" <abhilash.ar@gmail.com> wrote in message news:d93a5e40-e87a-4a54-9936-0a8ce3b3663f@v32g2000hsa.googlegroups.com... Guest Abhi Techie Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Re: File Server Issues Hi, Thank you so much for all your help. Guess i will have to check all these one by one. Meanwhile i wanted to clarify that the Server is Windows 2000 Server with SP 4.
