Hi,

We have a new internet connection with 5 ip adresses.

We also have a webserver in dmz with one of that 5 ip adresses.

But now it's not possible to surf to out website from a internal computer.

If i add the weburl and the internal ip adress in the hosts file then it's

works fine.

But we have lots of computers here, is it possible to make a policy on a

sbs2003 server that applied all the hosts files on the computer?

Or is there another solution (maybe a translation in dns or something..)

that i can setup to resolve the internal ip??

Greetz,

Tom

Hi Tom

I didnt understand the nature of your issue. "If i add the weburl and the

internal ip adress in the hosts file then it's"

This should be working y typing weburl and public ip like following

64.233.169.99 http://www.google.com

So, your internal clients point to SBS server as preferred DNS server

correct? I assume this is an ISP change. You dont need hosts file

modification in clients. Call your ISP that you obtained the 5 new IPs and

learn the public DNS server IP. Then add this IP as a forwarder in SBS server

DNS by...

*Start>Run>dnsmgmt.msc

*Right-click DNS in left pane>Properties

*Click forwarders tab. Add the public DNS server IP here

*Flush DNS cache (Right-click DNS in leftpane). Also flush dns cache in

client by issuing ipconfig /flushdns in commandline

*Restart the DNS service in server

Regards

RE: hosts

Hi,

I tried it several time to add our www domain and the internal ip there, but

it's not working.

I see in the cashe that the sbs server every time resolve the record again

to the external public ip adress.

RE: hosts

You shouldnt add either internal IP or your www IP. You should add the public

DNS server adress that you should call your ISP and learn as a forwarder. For

example add 67.138.54.100 as a forwarder.
