Hello and welcome.

You can use Windows Media player to RIP the DVD as long as it is not copyright protected.Just pop in disk and use RIP tab.

Or a simiilar program such as Nero.

I am not sure about putting it on facebook maybe someone else can help there.

Jelly Bean.

I agree with you Wolfeymole I was just looking into it myself just to check my post.

It appears it will be something like Nero to be used.

But ripping copyrighted music and movies is against the law.

And then to place this on facebook would again break facebook rules.

This is very true Jelly and if this DVD in question is a store bought movie pcignorant then it also against this forums policy to offer any advice regarding this matter as listed in Rule 4.

Yes I understand the forum rules on copyrighted material and no help to be offered as this would break forum rules.

:)

To help on such matters would break UK and USA laws.

VERY aware of copyright laws. This is a "home made" dvd of my son's amateur boxing bouts. I am making this enquiry on his behalf.

thanks anyway

@ the op as long as this is legally yours then you will need to convert the dvd to a format which Youtube can use there are lots of apps out there that can do this I use TMPGenc express but this may well be far to complicated.

EDIT if you want a quick and easy fix for this you could play the dvd on your pc and capture the bits you want to use with fraps

Hi, I am assuming this DVD was made with a DVD type camcorder?

most camcorders including DVD ones come with software to enable both editing and storing the completed file on the computer or transfer back to a normal sized DVD disk.

In most cases this software can convert the file to MPEG format. This you can upload directly to Facebook.

If you need more help in uploading to Facebook once converted to MPEG, just ask.

Nev.
