Jelly Bean Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Hello and welcome. You can use Windows Media player to RIP the DVD as long as it is not copyright protected.Just pop in disk and use RIP tab. Or a simiilar program such as Nero. I am not sure about putting it on facebook maybe someone else can help there. Jelly Bean. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Guest Wolfeymole Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 What DVD would that be mate? I might be wrong JB but it doesn't seem possible to rip DVD's in Media Player. Ripping in Windows Media Player Quote
pcignorant Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Thanks to you both. I did try Media player but with no luck. pci Quote
Jelly Bean Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I agree with you Wolfeymole I was just looking into it myself just to check my post. It appears it will be something like Nero to be used. But ripping copyrighted music and movies is against the law. And then to place this on facebook would again break facebook rules. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Guest Wolfeymole Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 This is very true Jelly and if this DVD in question is a store bought movie pcignorant then it also against this forums policy to offer any advice regarding this matter as listed in Rule 4. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/introductions/5272-rules.html References, questions, signatures or subjects posted with regard to or containing software cracks, rips, hacks, warez, porn, non-genuine, pirated and illegal software etc, may be removed, the thread closed and the originating poster possibly being banned. If this is not the case then feel free to continue pcignorant. Jelly Bean Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Yes I understand the forum rules on copyrighted material and no help to be offered as this would break forum rules. :) To help on such matters would break UK and USA laws. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
pcignorant Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 VERY aware of copyright laws. This is a "home made" dvd of my son's amateur boxing bouts. I am making this enquiry on his behalf. thanks anyway Quote
zinglebarb Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) @ the op as long as this is legally yours then you will need to convert the dvd to a format which Youtube can use there are lots of apps out there that can do this I use TMPGenc express but this may well be far to complicated. EDIT if you want a quick and easy fix for this you could play the dvd on your pc and capture the bits you want to use with fraps Edited May 24, 2009 by zinglebarb Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu
Plastic Nev Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hi, I am assuming this DVD was made with a DVD type camcorder? most camcorders including DVD ones come with software to enable both editing and storing the completed file on the computer or transfer back to a normal sized DVD disk. In most cases this software can convert the file to MPEG format. This you can upload directly to Facebook. If you need more help in uploading to Facebook once converted to MPEG, just ask. Nev.
