Lag problem which only occurs when gaming

Ok i apologise if i am unable to give you much information about my laptop as i am unsure and most computing terms might as well have been written in ancient greek, but i will try my best.

 

I have a dell inspiron 1525

2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T7250 processor

2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM

120GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD

The problem i have is that my internet is working perfectly fast, my cpu usage is about 6% (which i got down from 100 about two weeks ago which is when the problem first occurred.)

I have been playing runescape for about the past six months but when i logged on two weeks ago suddenly the lag was really bad. This is why i had someone help me to lower my cpu usage as i thought that was the problem. I have run a full scan of my computer and there are no viruses but still i cant play runescape. As i live it boarding school my internet only gets used about every three weeks so i cant imagine i could have done anything during that time.

Around that time i reinstalled vuze to download some music but it had never been a problem before. i uninstalled again today but still to no avail.

It would be much appreciated if you could help with this problem and if you need any more info i will do my best

Since everything else except this game is up to speed you should check for the usual causes.

 

Ruinscape article 743 might shed some light on this.
