belkin wireless usb adapter keeps connecting then disconnecting

hi i have got sky broadband with there wireless router so far thats been ok the problem is that i have a toshiba satellite a30 and have just bought a belkin wireless g+usb adapter and installed it i have put in the key so it links to the sky router but it only connects for about 5 to 10 seconds then disconnects for the same again it just keeps doing this connecting and disconnecting for as long as i leave it on i have tried reinstalling it a few times but its always the same i also have tried out the adapter on my laptop at a friends house and it does the same on there sky router and i have tried the usb adapter on their laptop and it works fine so it seems to be something to do with my laptop i have tried sky tech but they could not help in any way on , is my laptop wasted or not thanks......... oh and im running it on windows xp home edtion

have you tried simple thing like making sure you have all the encryption setup correctly...if you are using the belkin software then try just windows.or vice versa...try setting the ssid of the card to the same as the router...may help
