valder Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 hi i wonder if anyone can help, i'm new to this site so bear with me. i'm doing a course at college that required me to download a trial version of webcoder, not a problem! i'm then asked to create a new project and create a new folder for the root directory, when i create a new folder, i click on it and get a access violation error(webcoder has performed an illegal action and might have to shut down!), i try creating different folders in different locations and get the same error. however when i downloaded the trial software on my dads computer which incidently has 'xp' it works fine, my laptop has vista, i don't know if this is the reason why it dosen't work but i don't fancy doing this part of the course on my dad computer so if anyone could help. i tried the tutor and they didn't know :( please help  Quote

Plastic Nev Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Hi Valder, I came across this recently on a Vista laptop with a different program. It turned out that the firewall needed re configuring to allow that program to run. It may be the same in your case, have a look in your firewall settings, or providing you are off line, turn the firewall off temporarily and see if that helps. Hello plastic nev thanks for your suggestion, someone else suggested this but this doesn't appear to make any difference, i've tied quite a number of people and know one seems to know, any other ideas? valder Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Try creating the folder in your User Profile ie C:\users\your_user_name\your_new_project_folder\ hi, i've tried this and that doesn't work, webcoder is an html program, i have IE7, opera and mozilla firefox on my computer, i don't know if this helps. i'm not sure but the fact it worked on my dads computer with 'xp' and didn't with my vista, could it be one of those incompatibility problems vista often has? valder Quote
