Loss of profile and creation of a new one

Hello,

 

I have some problems with windows profil. When the user connect to his

session a new profil is created.

 

Example : Normal profil : C:\Documents and Settings\user1

New profil : C:\Documents and Settings\user1.domain

 

I have found a solution to this problem ( change ProfileImagePath in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList)

 

But my questions are : How do you avoid this bug? How did this bug come ?

Hy, is this only by this User or by all users?

Have you reset this User account?

 

Or something else that change the ID of the User?

This problem occures randomly for a few user since we have change our profile

politic.

 

Before all profil were set up in Roaming Profile and now all are in local

profile.

This the only change.

This looks "normal" to me (so far). When you switched to a local

profile (vs. a roaming profile), the first time user1 logged onto the

computer, it had to create a "local" profile. Since the default "user1"

profile was in use, it had to append something to differentiate it. It

looks like you are doing a domain logon, so it added ".domain" to the

profile name.

 

Another reason for creating new profiles is a problem with the existing

profile. For example, "user1.domain" might become "user1.domain.001"...

 

If you want things (icons, etc.) from the other profile, just copy them

from within "Documents & Settings".
