Hi Guys,

I haven't had time to make a formal greeting as normal, because i have spent 3 days dealing with my current predictament. I've tried DJ help sites but all they do is try and sell you expensive rubbish equipment you don't need and lie to your face when you tell them they are wrong

I would like the community to recommend a sound card. A desktop sound card. A multi channel desktop sound card with, you guessed it, 2 stereo outputs. Internal preferred, external excepted, if it will do what i want. I am running windows XP home, 2.6Ghz quad core, 4 gig of RAM, P5N73-AM motherboard currently with a Sound Blaster Audigy 7.1 budget sound card.

I am running Traktor scratch Pro, and require the sound card to enable me to play deck A over the speakers, whilst at the same time play deck B in my headphones. Native Instruments who make Traktor "recommend a multi-channel card with at least 2 stereo outputs".

So there it is, now please before you reply remember - for a desktop, 2 stereo outputs. You'd be amazed the number of sites and 'helpful' posters who have offered to solve my problem, more often then not with the Echo Indigo DJ card, which is made for laptops. Desktop only please.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hav0c

One of our Moderators (Plastic Nev) is a musician Havoc and will be in later to advise on this issue.

If you'll be patient until that time or if anyone else can provide help then it would be most appreciated.

The problem that has got me scratching my head is the need for two separate channels, not just in the sound card but also throughout the entire computer, at the moment I am not even sure if this can be done.

However the makers of Tractor, "Native Instruments" seem to think so.

So armed with that and a look round, I found this site, quoting both a four channel card and even a ten channel one here-

Multi-channel Sound Cards - Record multiple inputs direct to your Computer

Both are PCI slot cards so will fit any desktop with a spare PCI slot.

I have also been pointed at M-Audio by my friend Tootech, they do a rake of sound cards, one of which may be what you want. here-

M-AUDIO - PCI Audio Interfaces

Plus I also found this rather expensive beast at £639-00

Lynx L22 2-Channel Audio PCI Card - DV247.COM

I also wonder at the possibilities of two ordinary sound cards side by side providing there are two spare PCI slots available.

I have found this guide to sound cards on traktor's website but am still confused as what they mean by

"Native Instruments recommends a multi-channel soundcard with at least 4 analog outputs (4 x mono or 2 x stereo). This is the only way you can simultaneously play back the mix in stereo and prelisten with headphones"

^^This is my end goal^^

Hi again, thanks for that link to the Traktor recommendations, They mention one of the M-Adio cards, so it is basically have a look at all those I gave links for, as they all give the multi channel out put you need, and take your pick.
