darrenwindle Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hi, I recently upgraded my systems graphics card to an NVidia 8600GS. The reason for this was the buiilt in one (Nvidia 8200) Would only support a max resolution of 1280x1024x32 75Hz. This was the info from another forum. (wasn't much help either) Here is the prob... Now I have installed the new graphics card onto the PCIe slot updated to the latest drivers. I still cant seem to get the resolution any better. I was told that my current Monitor Fujitsu/Siemens L19W-9 Should be able to support a higher resolution and in widescreen format and not 4:3 format. This just makes everything look quite bulky. Is there a way to force the card to to go to a higher resolution? Quote
Jelly Bean Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) Hello there and welcome. Your monitor only supports upto 1440 x 900 so it was not your GPU but your monitor is the issue. You would need to purchase a better monitor that supports that higher resolution. EDIT: Are you running Vista?If yes then you would also need to configure the monitor and GPU via windows and the NVIDIA Control Panel advanced options. darrenwindle Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 I know... The problem is i am not able to select a 1400x900 resolution... the max seems to be 1280x1024. obviously the 1400x900 should come after this. Quote

darrenwindle Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 it actually gives me a completely different display model. It tells me its a "Scenicview A19-3A" whereas it should be a L19W-9. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hey Darren I would go into device manager and uninstall the driver for the monitor. Then right click and choose update driver. See if that helps if the wrong driver is installed this maybe why you cannot change the reolution. I am trying to see if there is a driver available but not having much luck searching. But they go on and off and on as quick as the days change. (except for my main VHP). lol. I just overclocked the graphics just to see what I could get out of it. unfortunatly it keeps reverting back to factory shipped settings on reboot....lol Quote
