maynardvdm Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi Can you get into safe mode? Start your computer in Safe Mode. If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again. If F8 doesn't work try F5. Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode. Log on with an account that has administrator priviledges, usually your own account (NOT the account named Administrator). Quote We are all members helping other members. keithl Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 no, just a black screen that read type password hit enter. but I cant type anything in. Was working in safe mode only , keep rebooting only went in safe mode. Did search, post read put disk boot first put in dell diagnostic disk, has not worked since. I beleive it read no usb in boot sequence. I think I encountered a virus that started it all, because I could not use spyware or virus detector keeped telling me adminstrator not excepting loading of program but I was logged in as administrator. Thanks for any help. Quote
keithl Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 I had moved the jumper on the password jumper logs back into safe mode. The problem still exist that the computer will only load in safe mode cannot restore or install spyware keeps reading "SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR HAS SET POLICIES TO PREVENT THIS INSTALLATION" Quote
RandyL Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi keith; Give this a try and see if it works. Go into the BIOS and disable boot from USB. Set the boot order to boot from HDD first. Next remove all USB devices and reboot. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. RandyL Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Keith I suggested my steps because after researching it seems this is a common problem specific to Dell computers. In most cases it works so I hope it will for you too. If it does start normally plug your USB devices back in. Try what I suggested first and then see if you have other problems.
