beckyb Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Not sure if this is in the right section but this seems the closest to. Basically I recently connected to Xbox Live using a netgear router, Used my hotmail addy as the email address needed (was for my son but they wanted mine cos he's only 13) and my MSN kept signing me in on it's own. Tried disconnecting the Xbox from the net and going back to PC - ethernet cable - modem, still did the same. Tried changing the security settings on MSN to stop it doing this and now half the time I've lost the icon in my tool bar, but if I leave my PC alone and switched on (which I hate doing) hey presto it was back and I'm was signed in I'm using Zonealarm firewall and which I've no set to deny MSN access to the net, so now I get loads of warnings telling that its trying to access the net and when I tell it to let msn access the net it throws a fit and does the "computer says no" act lol Friend of a friend suggested that I install IE8 to see if that would solve it and that has the download MSN live tag at the top when I know for a fact it's already installed and I can even find it in the control panel! Has anyone got any ideas as to what can solve this? Quote
BJD88 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) Hi becky, Im not sure I understand this problem correctly, but from what i've gathered: You've started using Xbox Live and to create an account you needed an email address which has an owner over 13 yrs of age. Your Messenger software(on your desktop?) is now signing in on its own. When does this happen? I'm confused about the connection between the xbox and MSN because there shouldn't be a confliction. It sounds like a separate error, but was there any error messages on the xbox when MSN started signing in out of its own accord? Have you tried uninstalling MSN messenger and downloading the latest version from microsoft? You can download from here: Messenger - Windows Live BJD Edited June 2, 2009 by BJD88 Quote
dan m Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Hey becky. The same as BJD88 i don't quite get what the problem is. Taking a stab in the dark hear, sounds like you don't want to sign into msn on your son's xbox. to solve this problem turn on the xbox either let it load the game or let it go to the main page i.e. where it will show the lastest games, spotlight. Then follow the steps below: 1. click the xbox button on the controller. It will load a small box in the center of the screen. 2. go across two tabs to the right which should bring you to the settings tab. 3. then go down to account management 4. go down to windows live id sub heading and click it. 5. click change password ( type the wrong pass in) this will stop you signing into msn when using the xbox but it wont effect your son playing games online or offline. But it will then let you login into msn on the pc. All it will say when he first turn's the xbox on is unable to sign into msn it goes within 2 seconds. Hope this is off some help to you. Quote
