DON'T LISTEN TO HP

They told me all i could do is a system recovery, but i fixed it myself.

You need the disk that came with vista for start up repairs. insert that disk and restart your computer. when the disk loads it will have a screen for selecting language and keyboard layout click next. the next screen will ask you to select your operating system do this and click next. the next screen will have a list of things you can do, select the command line one. when the black box shows up it should say something like:

X:>

you want to change the X:> to your drive that windows is installed on mine is c: so when you enter your drive letter it should look like this

X:>C: and then press enter.

it should now look like this

C:>

there are two things you need to do now

1.) type bootrec /fixboot

it should say operation completed succesfully

2.) type bootrec /fixmbr

it should say operation completed succesfully

after you do this remove your cd and restart the computer it should boot right up! Mine did after 3 days of trying everything else, im just glad i didn't do a complete restore! to much important stuff in my pc to lose.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Hi,

I'm having the Error 100c problem now but my HP did not come with any disks. Upon receiving the machine we had to make a set of "recovery disks" which to my knowledge are only good for a factory reset.

Can you please clarify what "disk that came with vista" you are referring to?

I have not found a solution to this problem anywhere.

Thank you,

Buck
