TS Users can't login

Recommended Posts

I have installed a new server with 2003 Std. RC2

This server is used only for TS

I have followed all Microsoft guides to installing this server as a TS

It registered the license and is activated for 10 user cals

The server is not a DC on the domain

The server is the TS server AND the License server

I added a new key in the registry that points to the servers IP for the

licensing

I have added users to remote users in AD

I have added users to RPC connections

I do have another TS also win 2003 Sp2 and this works fine

Problem

When a client tries to login it says -

The user domainname\administrator is currently logged on to this computer.

Only the current user or an administrator can log on to this computer

Any help will be appreciated

Regards

Pierre

Re: TS Users can't login

Seems your users are trying to connect to the console session of

the server, either by using the /console switch to mstsc, or

through the Remote Desktops MMC, which by default connects to the

console.

Also note that your users have to be added to the *local* Remote

Desktop Users group on the TS, not to the domain local Remote

Desktop group in AD.

And since you installed Per User licenses, make sure that the TS is

configured to use the Per User licensing mode, in Terminal Server

Configuration - Server settings.

Re: TS Users can't login

Thank you,

I was using the MMC to manage the TS and was using diff. logins via MMC to

test.

Did not see any documentation saying this could not be done - anyway thanks

and Happy New Year.

Re: TS Users can't login

You can use the Remote Desktops MMC, but you have to uncheck the

"Connect to console" checkbox on all but the first connection.

There can only be a single console session.

Same to you, Vera. Thanks for all the help you've given me and others here.

Very frustrating, though.... Every time I read a post that I feel "I can

answer that one!", I see that there's a post already from "Vera Noest

[MVP]".... ;-)

Looking forward to 2008. Gonna be interesting. At the Hospice I support,

this year we're going to implement Windows Server 2003, upgrade our

Citrix PS4 farm to 4.5 roll out WSUS 3 and SQL 2005. Also preparing for

Windows Server 2008 upgrade to our domain starting in 2009....

Don't despair, Hank, your input *is* appreciated! And I guess

that's what I would feel if I were to read the active_directory or

update_services newsgroups :-)

Copy TS client Profiles

Copy TS client Profiles

Is it possible to "copy" client profiles on the TS server

I need to setup 10 TS client profiles and although each one will be working

in the same application, they need to have their own username & password to

login, for the app to function correctly.

and instead of installing mail settings, printers etc. for each TS user is

there an easier way?

Thanks

Pierre
