jamesbrown Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Dear All, A little while ago, before last X-mas, i baught windows vista ultimate 64-bit for £159.99. That is a lot of money for someone like me. Now i want to be able to get the best possible experience from a computer as possible, and with the new release of windows 7, i'm beginning to think that i waisted my money buying ultimate when windows 7 is just about to come out! What would you recomend i do? Stay with unltimate for another year and then upgrade to 7, or upgrade to 7 soon after it's release? I don't want to come out of this at the end of the day thinking that my money has been waisted. many thanks, Brown. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Well I have Vista Home Premium on my main box and 7 on my laptop. It looks good so why not give it a trial run because once it expires you can reinstall Ultimate back on, they won't be pulling support for Vista until 2012 and a week is a long time in politics so anything could happen. Microsoft: Just five years support for Vista Home, Ultimate Quote
zinglebarb Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 There will not be a pushing need to upgrade for years. If your system works well then dont fix what aint broke. My Vista X64 machine runs sweet as a nut I will run windows 7 and have done since early beta but as I run a caddy system I can swap as I wish Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu
DarkLord7854 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Also.. Ultimate versions of Vista and Windows 7 are meant for people who use the same computer both at home and at work, Home Premium edition is generally more than enough for home use ;) Quote Just call me.... DL. :p
jamesbrown Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 thanks Thankyou to everyone who posted here, Just aside to the point, if windows 7 is comming out on the 22nd of october, then it's comming out on my birthday! :) :) :) Quote
Tootech Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Question is.....are you going to buy it on your birthday????? Quote
Chriscan Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Personally i would stay with Vista Ultimate for a while yet.If it suits your needs then why change it? I have been using Vista Home Premium for about a year now and so far so good NO problems.Up until i got this new Pc i was actually running Windows 98se...it did what i wanted it to do and could see no real reason for change.....keep the faith!!!
