maria1506 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I have a problem with getting wireless to work on my laptop when I'm at home althuogh we can access the internet fine on out home computer although it is rather slow. Other laptop users in my house can also not access the wireless connection. A while ago we spoke to someone about this problem and they said our driver was outdated, now I'm not a computer expert but I'm quite sure that we have more than one driver so which one did he mean? If anyone could tell me what I need to do to resolve this problem that would be fantastic. We have a Conexant HSF V90 56K PCI Modem (If this helps) which is outdated and out Realtek RT L8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC which is also outdated. Thanks Quote
Jelly Bean Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hello Maria and welcome to the forum. You can either click start/right click on my computer and choose properties/hardware tab/device manager and right click and choose update driver for the realtek.. Or you can download a driver and run it from here: Realtek Other factors around the home maybe interfering with the wireless signal.Such as cordless phones, mobile phones etc. Also check your firewall settings allow list. Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Err sorry if this is a really stupid question Maria but you do have a wireless router yes? Is the main box connected via ethernet cable to your modem? Quote
