Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Which connector on the TV have you attached the sound cable to Margaret? Quote
WeeOddBall Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 i have the audio cable plugged into the headphone socket at the side of the tv and the other end plugged into the headphone socket on the tower. thanks Quote
zinglebarb Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 headphone sockets are outputs not inputs you would need a pc audio input to get this to work with the VGA Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu

Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Does this TV have a SCART socket? If so you'll need something like this. 10m PC to TV Cable Kit Only 17.12 at TVCables Quote

zinglebarb Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I was assuming she did that via VGA ? Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Well obviously, but if a TV has the ability to receive a PC connection then it should have the ability to obtain sound from that source. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Hence an update of drivers and configuring software may help? Such as NVIDIA control panel and windows display? Now play nice I will get you both a football each. :D Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
zinglebarb Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Well obviously, but if a TV has the ability to receive a PC connection then it should have the ability to obtain sound from that source. My Sony Bravia has VGA input but no PC audio in. It also does not have RCA input either so you can not assign audio for use when the screen is on that input. To use audio going into a scart you needs to connect the pc to the TV via svideo or composite. The only GFX cards that carry Audio natively are the newer ATI pci e graphics cards. The TV WILL need PC Audio input to have audio and VGA together through the TV Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu

Plastic Nev Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 The simple way is to buy an adapter that will plug into the scart socket. The adapter I have myself is an RCA and S Video type, there are two input sockets on that for left and right sound in to the TV. (plus a video RCA input as well as the S Video one) All you need after that to get the sound from your PC is a lead with the corresponding left and right RCA plugs on one end and a 3.5mm Jack plug on the other to connect to the standard audio socket on your PC, The video connection, of whatever type you are using, if it is still working OK leave it as it is.
