headphone sockets are outputs not inputs you would need a pc audio input to get this to work with the VGA

Well obviously, but if a TV has the ability to receive a PC connection then it should have the ability to obtain sound from that source.

Hence an update of drivers and configuring software may help?

Such as NVIDIA control panel and windows display?

Now play nice I will get you both a football each.

My Sony Bravia has VGA input but no PC audio in. It also does not have RCA input either so you can not assign audio for use when the screen is on that input. To use audio going into a scart you needs to connect the pc to the TV via svideo or composite.

This machine is AGP 2/4 speed there is no way on the face of the earth you are going to get audio through it.

The only GFX cards that carry Audio natively are the newer ATI pci e graphics cards.

The TV WILL need PC Audio input to have audio and VGA together through the TV

can you not adapt somwehow via a variety of connectors the screen signal from the computer into the yellow component of an rca, and the headphone socket into the red and white components. then stick them into the rca input.

use one of these for the picture, leaving the red and white cables unplugged

then one of these to take the headphone output of the pc to the sound rca input

StarTech.com - Audio cable - Female RCA to M ini-phone stereo 3.5 mm

messy, but it should work

If the gFX card has svideo or composite output then we will not have a problem sovling it by goint into scart lead

The simple way is to buy an adapter that will plug into the scart socket.

The adapter I have myself is an RCA and S Video type, there are two input sockets on that for left and right sound in to the TV. (plus a video RCA input as well as the S Video one)

All you need after that to get the sound from your PC is a lead with the corresponding left and right RCA plugs on one end and a 3.5mm Jack plug on the other to connect to the standard audio socket on your PC,

The video connection, of whatever type you are using, if it is still working OK leave it as it is.
