Fast User Swithing workaround in Windows 2003?

Hello, I have read that XP feature of Fast User Switching is not

available on Windows 2003 Enterprise.

Is there any workaround for this, or 3rd party software that would

provide similar functionality of Fast User Switching on Windows 2003

machines?

I would greatly appreciate your opinions, especially from users who

"patched" somehow this limitation in Windows 2003 or made up another

soulution to provide similar functionality on 2003 machines.

Thank you,

rumbum

Hello rumbum,

Why will you use this on a server? Normally servers are not used for daily

work with a lot of users.

Best regards

What would be the point of such a facility? If you have several

admins working on the server concurrently then presumably one

sits at the console whereas the others log in from their own

PCs, each creating his own Terminal Session on the server.

On the other hand, if you have several users taking turns at

the console, each under his own account, then you may want

to examine your reasons for allowing this to happen.

Well, I need this sometimes because I use it as a workstation too. I was

a bit surprised that W2K3 doesn't provide this feature. Linux can be

configured as server and console swithing isn't something unusual.

Anyway, if you know some workaround in Windows 2003, please let me know.

Thank you,

rumbum

Windows' "Fast User Switching" is a scaled down version of a

Terminal Server manager, which is already built into Windows

2003. Use it to switch your sessions!

Thank you! Will I be able to mirror the same functionality and ease of

use as with Windows XP? Does it require some advanced configuration?

I haven't worked with Terminal Server yet so it is a black magic for me.

Thank you,

The TS Manager is far superior to the stuff you get under WinXP.

Have a look at it yourself - you'll probably find it under Administrative

Tools.
