I have a new computer running Vista - I was previously used to XP.

All seems to be fine - my wife and me are 'admin' and our two kids 'standard' users - very handy!

However, when logged on under my children, googling can sometimes take an absolute age - eg: I tried 'Amazon' and it returned many millions of results but this took a good 20 seconds. The same task under my own log-on is instantaneous. Similarly when subsequently clicking on Amazon.uk from these results - this didn't work under by children's logon; there was a 10 second pause and then 'Stopped' came up in the lower status bar. Again, pretty immediate under my own screen.

Something obvious I need to do?

Thanks.

Hi Bugsy, I am not too sure how it is done in Vista, but I would think it's not dissimilar from XP but have you any child protection enabled in your browser at all? Check at what level if so, as a stop on Amazon or specific pages from Amazon is not unlikely in the settings, to protect against say adult content or worse etc.

As an aside, if you haven't got this sort of protection, depending on the age of course, I would set some up, just in case your problem isn't related to that in the first place.

Nev.

Along the same lines, I wonder if it has anything to do with your Internet security.

I am not sure about Vista, but I've seen problems with Limited User accounts on XP, where the security software didn't have enough permission to carry out its task.

Its a long shot, but worth a thought.
