hi all i have a msi k9mm-v mobo

was just wondering i only have 512 memory installed but i have been given a 256 ddr stick.

could i use this with this mobo.

it fits ok but is a bigger stick also it has 2 sets of clamp grooves and this clamps on the lower set

Hello there.

 

I just looked at your mainboard specifications.

 

Your board takes 2 sticks of DDR2 800 upto 2 gig.

 

I have a feeling you are trying to insert single chip RAM not dual channel.

 

I dont think this will work if you insert the single channel RAM.

 

Is there a label on the 256 mb ?

Even if the stick was compatible, being perhaps older it may be slower, this would force the existing ram to run at that slower speed any way, so no gain in it.
