For about the past two months now, my computer has been constantly freezing or crashing - by freezing I mean literally sound stops, mouse stops working, keyboard, and I have to restart - by crashing I mean the 'blue screen of death.'

 

Every single stop message seems to have a different error, but most of them point towards faulty USB drivers and the like, so I believe it's hardware related.

I also get stop messages regarding ntfs.sys from time to time.

The thing is, people have suggested to me that I replace my RAM, which I have done, clean my fans/heatsink, which I have. I also formatted my hard drive - still had the problem.

I've been through the Device Manager and updated every driver I could, then for the purposes of troubleshooting, in safe mode, disabled and re-enabled pieces of hardware one at a time to see if they were causing the problem - no success, and ran RegCure and removed any registry errors. The computer even crashes in safe mode.

I've searched and searched the internet for possible solutions, but I've not come across a single one.

It does seem to crash more when under stress, however - when playing a game it's much more likely to freeze/crash on me, and also seems to crash more often when extracting or installing files.

As of late the rate of problems has been decreasing, but literally 10 minutes ago it crashed, three times in a row, and I'm just at wits end as to what the cause could be.

Also, when my computer first starting having these problems, I had neither added nor removed any components.

 

I'm not entirely sure of what use it may be, but I've included an attachment of my DxDiag information.

Any guidance on the matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

 

Lets first see if this is a heating issue of some kind.

 

Download and run Speedfan and post a screen shot of your temps.

Posting error codes from the BSODs would also help us determin the problem.

 

Lets also check that hard drive.

 

Open command prompt and copy and paste in chkdsk /r and hit enter on your keyboard.If you get a message that states cannot run now would you like to schedule then type Y and hit enter on your keyboard then restart the computer and let chkdsk /r run.It may appear to freeze or hang at times but that is fine.

 

Let me know if it finds any errors and if it does did it fix them?

hi

definatly do as the previous post said and run chkdsk.

i would also check in your event viewer, right click "my computer" the click on "manage", look in there under "system" is there anything in there that is red. if so do they point to your problem,,,,,,can you list some for us.....

 

at first glance i would suspect the hard drive, as you say happen when playing games and stressing the PC. the more hard drive activity on a failing drive the worse it is going to get..

my advise is to back up your data now so you dot have to worry about data recovery..

Okay, I've checked the hard disk and it didn't detect any issues, just ran smoothly.

I've yet to test the memory, I plan on doing that later today.

The reason I'm waiting on that is the Speedfan report has er... well, not inspired much confidence. I think that it may be the source of all my problems - it seems only one of my fans is actually working. I had a little look at the fans and they are still connected correctly, and not dirty or blocked by anything. Could it just be that I need to buy some new fans?

Regardless, I've attached the screenshot so you can look and see what you think.

 

Also, I just got a BSOD and the stop message was '0x0000d1' with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

 

I'd also like to point out that this is the most common BSOD message I get.

Yes your correct the temps are to high.

 

When you say one fan is working which one is spinning?

 

It maybe a case of new fans but lets see.

One of two that I have attached to the inner-back of the case is working, and so is my heatsink and fan on my motherboard. However, neither of them seem to be doing any good.

What CPU do you have in your system ?

 

Also, I'd check those temps in the BIOS to make sure there is some read across.

 

Its normally in a menu called Hardware Monitor.
