Forwarded to Office Update newsgroup.

You are to insert your MS Office XP CD, not the MS Outlook CD.

You ask the experts in an MS Office or Outlook group!

Re: service pack 3 for officexp

1. Go to

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=85af7bfd-6f69-4289-8bd1-eb966bcdfb5e

2. Scroll down & read the section "To install SP3 without the original

Office XP CD".

3. Scroll to the end of the page and download the file

"OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe"

(Do not Run it; Save it to your desktop instead.)

4. Close all open applications (anything with an icon on the taskbar) and

double-click on the saved file (OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe) to

install. Follow all prompts.

Re: service pack 3 for officexp

Hi Robear,

Did all you suggested and still asked for the 2002 disc,I

clicked ok,then this new error message appeared:

(error 1706 c;\Program Files\Microsoft Office\office10\1033\setup.HLP.)

I've done a search for this file office10 and nothing shows up on the PC

Sorry about this,it's a complete mystery,I have uninstalled officexp and

reinstalled thinking that might help but no joy, where do I go now.

Re: service pack 3 for officexp

I'm having the same problem, I tried installing the alternate update version,

I can't find the .msi files on my computer, and I don't have access to the

CD. Is there any other way to get this update?

Hi Min,

An Error 1706 is basically saying it can't find the original disks (or network installation point) to repair or complete the

installation.
