Disk 'Format did not complete successfully' error

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am attempting to create a new partition (sucessful) in Server 2003 disk

management, but when I attempt to format the partition with NTFS (quick or

full) it gets to the end and says "Format did not complete sucessfully".....I

have a created several other partitions and formatted them no problem in the

past.....Any ideas? FAT32 format works fine on the same partition.

Try doing it from a Command Prompt and note the error messages.

Hello. I created from cmd prompt and formatted ntfs from command line and it

succeeded (no errors)...However, the disk still shows no file format in disk

management or when browsing with explorer and is unreadable. The error I get

when I try to open is H: not available, insufficient resources exist to

complete the requested service.

A reboot resolved this. I already opened a trouble ticket with MS, will

follow up to find out if they know why that happened.
