geo940 Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 For my clean install In post 13 the screen after agreeing to the licence do I accept option 3 to delete the partition. Think I do but would just like to make absolutely sure. George Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Yes George Look at this from Michael Stevens. scroll down to the blue installation screens featured on the left hand side. XP Clean Install Click on the shots to enlarge them. Quote
geo940 Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 Hi have read those screen shots and advice on post 27 and have another problem I can delete the partition at C drive but at my own risk as it may contain valuable information pertaining to my re installation. The other alternative is the uninstall the non dos features but that is a bit drawn out. Will it be safe to un install this partition or should I go by the other route. Sorry but need advice again. Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 When I got my HP main box George it came with no disks whatsoever so I had to make some Recovery disks so I could re-install should anything go wrong. I took 3 DVD's but I do have Vista and I have had to use them once. There should be no reason why you cannot simply carry on as that disk you have should take it back to factory condition. I'm unsure what you mean by this, The other alternative is the uninstall the non dos features but that is a bit drawn out. However before you do that what is the make and model of the Fujitsu. Quote
geo940 Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Hi Thanks for that info my computer is Fujitsu Seimens AMILO Pi 1505 Laptop bought in 2006 Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Did you get any manuals with this lappy George as the support on this from Fujitsu is next to crap. In theory you should have one detailing Recovery aspects. Quote
geo940 Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Hi Unfortunately there on the hard drive and of course I didn't make any hard copies, but am going to go ahead and give it a try as it is useless at the moment and I need to get it running. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Let us know how you go on George as this practice from companies that do not provide disks and also do not make it extremely clear to people that they need to make back up disks is deplorable. Quote
geo940 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Hi back from computer hell, All the information you chaps gave me has paid off thanks very much. I had one or two gliches but at the moment have got 95 per cent of it going. The strange thing is that after the first install I run into some problems and had to retry and all the screens you were asking me about came up the most remarkable was the repair screen, so I can only assume that my system was badly corrupt. Once again many thanks will let you know if there is anything that I need any more help with cheers George Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 That's good to hear George :) Don't hesitate whatsoever if you need any further help mate. Quote

Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Remember that Acer may no longer offer support under ME for that old laptop George regarding drivers, unless you already have them. Quote
