Guest Marvin Bordelon Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I have created a task in our Helpdesk application which logs of the current user on our 2003 servers. However, this works on some servers but not others. Is there a setting which enables/disables remote logoff?

Guest Marvin Bordelon Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 RE: Forced Remote Logoff I have the command to log the user off remotely. But, it works on some servers and not others. They are all running the same O/S . Guest NeilH Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Re: Forced Remote Logoff I presume you want us to guess how you are remotely logging off? Some hint of your method would be useful, them you might get an answer, while at the moment we can only guess your problem since you don't provide any information! Guest Marvin Bordelon Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Re: Forced Remote Logoff What's with all the attitude around here? If you're not going to offer any suggestions, don't clog up the thread. We use a product called Altiris.Which has it's own logoff/restart/shutdown commands. I don't see why that matters since my question has nothing to do with the command itself. What I am asking is "does server 2003 have a setting somewhere that would no allow me to remotely logoff users". Guest - Michel Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Re: Forced Remote Logoff Hi, As far as I know you can only log on people from machines you're local admin on. I'm not aware of any setting that allows you to either log one off or not. Perhaps that helps. Kind regards, Michel "Marvin Bordelon" wrote: > What's with all the attitude around here? Guest Marvin Bordelon Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Re: Forced Remote Logoff Thanks for the response. The account I am using is a Domain Admin account.Which in turn makes it a local admin account. I can force a log off using an Altiris task. The problem I am having is that i can do this on some servers but, on other servers the task says it's running but no logoff ever occurs.I tseems as if there is something set on the servers where it does not work that is preventing it from working. Guest Jon Kloske Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Re: Forced Remote Logoff Hi Marvin, Could it be a firewall issue? Most of these remote things I've played with use IPC shares to talk (which runs on the file and printer sharing ports.) As an aside, have you tried contacting Altiris about support for this? Regards, Jon. ps: you should expect attitude when attempting to get free support, failing to provide enough information, then semi-impatiently shooting down the only intelligent suggestion possible with the limited information provided as "not good enough" without further qualification on why.
