Guest Tom Celica Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Hello, our company has changed their name, and I don't want to change the Domain name. Our Exchange server is already accepting email for both the old domain name and the new domain name. I heard that we could change the name of the domain presented to the user, at the logon prompt. I want to Administratively make it appear as if I have changed the Domain Name, without doing too much work. Here is what I would like presented to the user at log-on Username: gjetson Password: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Domain: New-domain-Name Thanks -tom
Guest Brian Delaney [MSFT] Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 RE: How to Change the Log-On Domain Name Prompt Hi Tom, You cannot change the domain name at the logon prompt without migration into a new domain or performing a domain rename if you are at 2003 FFL. Neither of which are a simple task and require extensive planning and execution. Some customers I have worked with have worked around this problem by using UPN (User Principal Name) to logon. You can have the user logon with myname@newdomain.com in the username box without requiring them to select a domain from the drop down list. You can even completely remove the drop down list forcing them to logon in such a manner. You can setup the UPN suffix by using AD Domains and Trusts and going to the properties of Active Directory Domains and Trusts. The newly created suffix must then be assigned to the accounts you wish to use it using AD Users and Computers.
