pc restarting/rebooting plz help

i have a p4r 800-vm asus motherboard and for some reson it keeps getting the same thing crashing and rebooting i have had the problem before and just gave it to a shop to fix. if anyone could help i would be very greatful thx.

Could you give us some more info.

 

What do you do before it crashes, or is it random? Do you have Service Pack 2 or 3?

 

Can you go into safe mode?

its copletly random i can go into safemode yes and im kinda new with computers dunno what service pack i have

Hi mac,

 

Start > Run ...type in....winver....OK

This should tell you which service pack you have.

 

Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced

Click on "Settings" next to Startup / Recovery

Uncheck "Auto Restart" under "System failure"

 

This should give you an error message next time your system crashes.

 

if you can post it here it may give some hint as to the cause of your problem.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Give them a bell and ask what happened last time then let us know, it gives us a better insight you see.

 

Have you never had Windows Updates turned on as XP is now on Service Pack 3?

called the shop they said that they dont remember and have just updated there systems and lost my information so there not very useful

i think the problem is with my drivers are there any programs u would recomend for drivers?

So are you saying you formatted and installed XP again and are still having problems?

 

Can we have a bit more than one line of dialogue please Mac.

Ok get all updates from Microsoft immediately.

 

What is the make and model of your PC or is it a handmade affair?

its a mesh not too sure of the model called my brouther who owned the pc before me but hes not pciking up..... and the updates dont seem to be starting. also crashing alot so cant do much.

OK, mac, Can you run a check disk?

To do so click start, then run, type in the box " chkdsk " and click OK.

OK mac, sorry but I missed a bit out, I should have asked you to use cmd first.

 

  1. Click Start, and then Run.
  2. In Open, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
  3. Use one of the following procedures:
    • To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, at the command prompt, type chkdsk, and then press ENTER.
    • To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/f, and then press ENTER.
       
      Note If one or more of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message: Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
      Type Y, and then press ENTER to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.
    • To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/r, and then press ENTER.

was looking threw all my drivers and saw that i dont have a sm bus controller driver could this be the problem?

blue screen

 

hello here is my problem i get a blue stcreen with this code

stop:0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000

it happend about 10seconds to 5 mins in randomly and is very annoying

plz help

Possibilities:

 

Low-level hardware corruption, such as corrupt memory (RAM)

Mismatched memory modules

A malfunctioning motherboard

 

You can try to update drivers from the computer or mainboards manufaturers website.

 

Are you running: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0 and NSI Software's Double-Take.

 

I sugest you run this as per instructions:

 

Memetest86

 

EDIT:

 

Power off computer.

 

Remove all RAM sticks,place one stick in slot nearest CPU/Processor.

 

Reboot see what happens.

 

Remove that stick and place in another,reboot see what happens do this for each stick individualy.
