Ace_786 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Hi i got my new laptop which has Windows Vista, all i wana know is that if i have battery life to balanced - power saver or high performance? will it make any difference? i have it on power saver i know this way it will save alot of battery life but if i have it on balanced or high performance what difference is there as for performance? does power saver run things slow? all in all does it really harm my system if i have it on power savor? Thanks:) Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Well it's horses for courses at the end of the day Ace. Windows Vista saves energy with its new Power Plans and hybrid sleep mode If your on the road with the lappy and no chance of charging it then put it on Power Saver, the battery will last longer but the system will run slightly slower. When you get home and can plug it in you could change it to High Performance. If your on the road don't try running video's etc or the battery will be gone before you know it. None of the plans will harm the system. Quote

Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 If your at home then plug it in like I said, it will over ride the battery once it's charged. Quote
Ace_786 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 If your at home then plug it in like I said, it will over ride the battery once it's charged. so at home keep it as high performance? but with that battery will go low much quicker won't it? if you know what im saying here. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 What? If you are running the laptop from the mains supply the battery will not be affected. While running it from the mains you can be in High Performance and play video's or system intensive applications like games. You need to change the plan back to Power Saver once you are relying on battery power only, eg when your on the road. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Ace I keep myne on balanced this still gives me my average 7 hours usage of battery. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Ace_786 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Ace I keep myne on balanced this still gives me my average 7 hours usage of battery. at the moment i im charging on high performance what really i dont want is for it to go dead after 20 mins lol so in that case balanced is good idea to be honest. Jelly Bean Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Stick with balanced if I was you. It is a safer bet. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 What part of running it from the mains electricity will not affect the battery don't you understand? Is this some obscure wind up or something? Look Ace I have explained in great detail about the various aspects and you seem not to have taken any notice whatsoever. Without being insulting mate I suggest you change your profile Experience to something other than Very Experienced as you are obviously not. Quote

Well just to let you know i do understand the only thing i asked on here was about performances at the moment its on high performance i wana keep it on one because on power saver battery lasts longer then the other two. i haven't used vista before so i think you gotta have some sympathy rather then telling me how experienced or inexperienced i am but thanks for the help much appreciated. hope you don't mind what i said here. Ace_786 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 and looking through your messages i am getting the idea now that i read them properly. Thanks i will leave it running from main whilst playing games etc once done just keep it to balanced / power saver. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Watch my lips ok, when you are plugged into the mains the battery is over-ridden, it won't die in 20 minutes or 50 or next year. I explained in post #2 the pros and cons regarding different power plans. Thank you for admitting you did not read them fully. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Ace balanced is more appropriate unless you intend to play higher spec games. On balanced it will run smooth and fast. Use the higher settings for game play while on charge. I use balanced for when I am out and about and connect to other wireless networks. In control panel classic view see the battery icon you can click on it and check box to add the icon to the task bar to monitor battery usage and levels.
