Guest merryx Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 new HP Proliant server with sbs. First time today i start it up a dos program runs and is riddled with failure lines, then ends with failed message. But that aside, the client wants to install 2003 instead of sbs on this machine but when it gets to the ........starting setup part of the new installation of 2003 the writing disappears and nothing happens. what could be the cause of this?

You need to report how exactly you start the Win2003 installation.
Guest - Michel Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 RE: cannot install 2003 And not to forget: what is the failed message? Be more precise please. Guest merryx Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 RE: cannot install 2003 i start the win 2003 install by disk, it boots ok and starts set up then just stops with blank screen. the bat program that starts on a new HP server appears to be corrupted. The errors are all through the script. But I don't want to use this script, just go straight to to the CD install which bypasses all this. The two sata drives are detected. Guest Pegasus \(MVP\) Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Re: cannot install 2003 When installing Windows 2003, you do not boot the machine with its hard disk. You must boot it off the Windows 2003 installation CD. There is no batch file involved in this process. Guest merryx Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Re: cannot install 2003 its a new proliant server. On first statup it launches Autoexec.bat file. This is full of warnings and errors. If i boot windows 2003 from cd/dvd so i can install it it starts, goes to "setup is inspecting........" as usual, then goes to a blank screen.
