Guest Mathew6266 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 after my server failed to install server 2003 SP2, my event logs are corrupted so I cannot veiw any event logs. the following services are failing to start: , DHCP server, DFS replication, SNMP, SQL 2005, task scheduler, Windows management instrumentation, windows service pack installer update service with the following error: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start” I have tried to download and install the service pack but it still errors out and then uninstals.
Guest daveg Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 RE: Windows Server 2003 Service pack 2 fails to install We need WMI and other services to install a service pack so it will defintely not install at this point. Couple things to consider: do you have a recent system state backup? If so restore the system state to get the system stable. If not, you could try performing in-place upgrade using media with Sp2 slipstreamed. -- daveg
