It's too new really for us to go much further Ace mate, it has been wrongly set up in the first place. So I would consider taking it back before it is too late.

There is a very strange partition on there that has no file system allocated, not to mention the drive letter "S" has been wrongly allocated as well somehow.

Wolfey are you refering to EISA Config?

If yes that is the hidden recovery partition.

;)

Ace click start/all programms/accessories/system tools and choose disk cleanup/Files from all users on this computer/choose C drive let it scan then check all boxes in the new popup window.Another popup box will appear click on delete.

Does that free up some space on your hard drive?

It certainly should not be using up that amount of disk space so soon.

Ok as it is new and I do not advise turning of system restore then turning it back on.

But what I posted earlier on disk cleanup when you get to the list of check boxes choose the second tab "More Options" then choose Sytem restore and shadow copies and press the cleanup button located under that heading then choose delete then choose ok.

See if that frees up some space on your hard drive.

I realy do not see what the S partition is for at all anyone noticed the size?

Ace are you sure this is a brand new machine?

I know some returned goods to PC World are just packaged back up and resold at the origonal price.Maybe you were sold a repackaged returned machine?

If you start to have issues other than the sound then yes return ASAP.

It looks like there may of been two seprate partitions created on one hard drive and some one tried to resize C drive and get rid of the second partition but did not know how to get rid of that S 1.4 gig completely.

It is PC World I am always ongaurd of what they do.

A beeping noise

What's going on here Ace?

The reason I ask is that you seem reticent to take it back to PC World, why?

Posted

Will you please take it back, if it is covered by the PC World insurance there is usually no quibbles, very expensive insurance, but they do stick to it by the letter. It is probably the only good thing (in my opinion) to come out of PC World.

Tell them, and show them everything, including the latest, this beeping.

Stand your ground, you want a new replacement, or money back.
