Bassiacly folkes, I installed IE7, But I've decided i don't need it on this pc, as it's a family one and IE7 just slows ya down, and the people who use it are more used to IE6, so what the heck.

Now, as i always do i read the websites before i went and uninstalled... All was good, IE7 showed happily in my add/remove progs and it seemed 100% removable.

So i removed it, it went about the process fine, not one error reported, then asked me to restart.

I logged in and sat patiently for half a muinite to let itself prepare, then i noticed my IE icon hasn't changed back to the IE6 one. OK, so the icon didn't install, i fire up IE to check, and guess what?

I'm sat staring at IE7...

I looked back to add/remove progs, but nothings there!

I tried to install ie6 via the instaler on microsofts website- It merely tells me i have a more recnet instilation, damnit...

Anyway I went for it what the heck, ill sacrifice one of my fave games i uninstalled the other day, and did a sys restore. Guess what? Didn't work, merely got "restoration incomplete- nothing was changed" Tried reinstalling IE7 and repeating the process and exactly the same thing happened. Infact right now i'm posting this with a version of IE that doesant think it's IE7 and thinks it uninstalled itself, but at the same time IS....

Please Help! :P

Thanks for replying mate, as it happens i allready know about that, but even when you do run it, it's just the same uninstilation as the one from add/remove isn't it? (so it will do just the same)

I apologize if it isn't; but i'm not going to try it because i don't feel like going to the effort of uninstalling then reinstalling...

Cheers

I'm using XP, I'll take you up on the suggestion of sys restoring in safe mode, not thought of that, not looking forward to losing all mydamned things though :P

Thanks for the help, and the error message i get after normal sys restore is:

"Restoration Was Inconplete, Your System Could Not Be Restored To This Time, No Files Were Changed"

"Try Another Restore Point"

Oh yeh, b4 i forget, would a recovery console repair replace ie7 with ie6 (im aware it will roll xp back to service pack 1)

hi snaily

if you did a repair install it will remove service packs 2...thus removing all updates install after it.....(IE7)..i believe....i havnt done a repair install on a system with ie7 but maybe worth a try.
