Fitzy Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 hi there, i have a strange problem i am hoping some1 can help me with, my laptop is an advent 7082 the laptop works fine, apart from an annoying problem. when i press any key on the keyboard it causes the mousepad to become inactive, and also the keyboard itsself stops working. i have over come this issue so far, by placing a slim ish usb keyboard ontop ov the laptops own, and using the mousepad, however its a real inconveniance, as im sure theres something which can be done. when i press the FUNCTION key and F12 it flickers as if it was trying to send to the second monitor, this doesnt stop the mousepad from working. FN + Any other f key or anykey will freeze it though. its baffled me for so long, as the keyboard did work for about a month magically, out of the blue it started working. and then oneday it stopped again. any help appreciated. regards Fitzy Quote

maynardvdm Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Try uninstalling the keyboard and touchpad drivers, then reboot and windows should install them again. Fitzy Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 ok trying that now doesnt work, any other suggestions, i have a recovery cd, but when it goes to bios, and asks me to press F to format and R to recover, i cant use the keyboard there either, and i cant use the usb 1, as its not booted the drivers there. maybe its hardware related. funny how FUNCTION AND F10 WORKS Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I have to agree that it's hardware related Fitzy so I would suggest you take it to a reputable repair shop, (not PC World in my opinion) and get them to check it out. This is one of those intermittent faults that are nigh upon impossible to track down without actually having the lappy in front of us. Quote

RandyL Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 You got lucky. Your board is faulty and you need to take it to a shop. If it didn't work in the BIOS it won't work anywhere. The fact you got it to work from a Linux CD just means the fault didn't develope this particular time. No virus will run when outside of the OS whether it be Windows or Linux.
