Hey guys,

Got quite a tricky problem here with the new America's Army game. I'm not sure if anyone here plays this, but hopefully someone can solve this little riddle...

Problem:

"when launching the Game, the splash image appears and is shortly followed by an error message stating the AA3game.exe has stopped working."

Basically, I can't even get into the game. Now the game can be downloaded either through Steam or the developer's Deployment Client. I've tried both and the same issue persists. I've looked and tried lots of suggested solutions which have worked for some and not for others but so far no luck!

I'm interested to know whether having on-board audio would cause this? However i'm running a Gigabyte MoBo with the Realtek HD Audio and have absolutely no problems with any other game.

There ARE issues with this game, some worse than others. Most problems are posted on the AA (America's Army) website forums... Which I has also done.

All drivers are up-to-date. I believe my system more than meets the minimum requirements.

*In my post I detail some things i've found while looking through the game logs.

* i.e. "aa3input.ini cannot be found in Cloud"

AA3 system Requirements >> America's Army 3 on Steam Scroll to bottom of page.

I have Attached my DxDiag Report, The SteamWrapper.log file and the game log file.

If anyone can shed some light on this problem i'd be very grateful, this has baffled me completely. So far i've tried:

  1. Reinstalling the game using both STEAM and the DEPLOY client numerous times
  2. Replacing the AA3input.ini file with a copy from a Working Machine.
  3. Disabling the Sound card and attempting to run the game.
  4. Renaming the game folder and testing then renaming it back to the original.
  5. Setting the game launch options to use Directx 10.
  6. Cleaning the registry.
  7. Moving the AA3input.ini file to different locations to see if this made a difference.
  8. Checking the game cache integrity through steam

but of course no luck just yet. Any ideas?

Many thanks, BJD

Yer sorry Bjd was being lazy and not bothering to open them.

I been checking many forums including your post, and it seems the game has loads off problems that they seem to being trying to fix.

Its like a 50/50 chance off getting a download that works.

Have you tried downloading it and the re-downloading it and see if the second download fill's in any of the missing files.

This link is to a section off a forum where someone has posted about a Freeze/Crash Permanent Fix.

If the above doesn't work i would give it a month and give them a chance to fix it ( not what you really want to do i stand understand)

Sorry i cant tell you what the single problem is cause there seems to be many with AA3

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out on this Dan :) I don't think i can download the game twice through steam without removing the original first, may have to try the Deploy client again.

Also, In the Launch log file - i've noticed a "critical" error entry stating: "appError called: Device does not support 1x32 FP render target format.". Could possibly be in relation to the graphics, however the card is more than adequate for this game. I'm not sure if my attached launch log shows this as I've looked at the copy I posted and think it's cut the bottom off.

Maybe this is worth investigating.

Anyway I agree, they will probably resolve this in time. Shame lots of people have been looking forward to playing the game only to be disappointed haha.

yer a few people on the forums where getting errors like that and another common one was unable to load bulk texture =/ think the designers need to go though it and sort a few things out. You thought about buying it on cd's?

The game is completely free so buying it is not an option hehehe :D

I'll just wait for the next hotfix, fingers crossed!!

cheers matey.
