Sounds nice. Especially considering it's the same as mine!

If you can, to upgrade to 1Gb RAM. 512Mb is OK, but the mini always runs at over 60% memory usage, and occasionally maxes out if a few intensive apps are open. I'm thinking about upgrading mine, but the thought of opening it up really worries me... (see here)

80Gb is also a wise upgrade. I've filled my HDD to nearly 50Gb already, so the 40Gb drive would've been a problem.

I'm really cautious about the first batch of Intel macs. I just get the impression things wont work as well as they do currently in OS X, in terms of software and hardware compatibility. I'll hang on to see how things work out before thinking about getting one, and in the meantime enjoy my PowerPCs!

Hehe i've got the powerbook atm..... but hopefully getting the new macbook pro, due to the fact that Intel are making the CPU, which for Mac will operate like lightning. However, I would have prefered Apple doing a deal with AMD

I think I remember reading about how Apple switched from their old processors to the current PowerPCs, similar to the current move towards Intel processors. Their initial computers that used the newer processors were actually slower than the previous counterparts due to optimisation problems.

I think this is what could happen, but I have a feeling they may have done a better job this time. I think the next batch or revision will see a performance improvement.

Yeah possibly but I do think they will have spent more time, as the reputation of Intel processors could be damaged if they are slower.
