Guest Ray Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Good Day, We have a Compaq proliant ml350 Raid 5 server running windows 2003 STD. We have one big partition and have added another drive to the array. We cannot expand the partition since it gives us an error " the system partition cannot be expanded." How do we accomplish this . Thanks for your help in advance. Ray
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Re: Expanding C: partition Hello Ray, Is the server installed witt SMART START from HP? Or do you use software RAID configuration? Guest Meinolf Weber Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Re: Expanding C: partition Hello Ray, With Smart Start tools you can use |Array configuration utility| For software you can use from MS diskpart.exe: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325590 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bcb9100d-698f-40a3-bf53-692d793c6e4f&DisplayLang=en But whatever you use, I highly recommend to make a good BACKUP BEFORE STARTING!!!! Guest Ray Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Re: Expanding C: partition thanks for the quick response Meinolf. We used the smart start raid tool that comes with the server to create the partition and raid array originally. We've successfully expanded the array but the extra space doesn't show up in the OS.
