Guest Jason Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I have a backup tape that was written with Veritas backup exec. The on tape catalog has been passworded (and the password was set up incorrectly, so I don't know what it is). Researching told me that Veritas uses MTF format, so NTBackup should (in theory) read the tape. I can get NTbackup to catalog the tape, no problem, but when it comes to restoring, approx on third of the file is restored. NTbackup either then stalls and does nothing, or claims it has successfully completed the restore. 1) As the tape formats compatible? Since the tape catalogs, I assume they should be. 2) why does NTbackup only restore 1/3 of the file. 3) How do I get my restore (besides having to send the tape away)
