Hi,

i have added a wireless wrt54 linksy

Can you explain what you mean. Have you added a wireless access point, or another router? What is the exact part number?

it says i am connected to my laptop

Can you also explain this please - I don't understand what 'it' is and how it tells you your laptop is connected.

Do you mean that your laptop will connect to the Internet using someone elses wireless, but when you try your own you can connect to the wireless part, but don't have access to the Internet?

Thanks.

What do you mean Thanks?

Can supply answers to Tootech's questions please.

To be honest I'm not too happy about the fact your using your neighbours connection to get on the Net, I think you should make this guy aware of just how lax his security is.
